Countering Child Exploitation Training Course for Georgian Law Enforcement Representatives

On 2 and 3 May 2022, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Justice of Georgia organized a training for 22 representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The training course was dedicated to identifying instances of trafficking in children and how to conduct effective criminal investigations in a multi-disciplinary setting.

The participants were greeted by representatives of IOM, the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State and the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

An experienced trainer from Moldova and high-level prosecutor himself guided the participants through a large range of issues, including relevant national and international legal frameworks, standards of countering child exploitation, indicators to help law enforcement officials to recognize instances of child exploitation in high-risk economic sectors and practical tips how to conduct interviews with possible child victims of trafficking in persons.

The training took place as part of the INL-funded project “Joint Action Against Trafficking in Persons in Georgia”.
