Inter-Agency meeting on Trafficking in Human Beings for Labour Exploitation
Past weekend, 15 September, up to 20 civil servants from a range of Georgian ministries met in Batumi to discuss joint measures to be taken to solidify Georgia’s action against trafficking in human beings, in particular as this concerns labour exploitation. Representatives from the law enforcement bodies, social assistance service, labour inspection and the judiciary sat around the table and assessed previous action as well as plan future action.
IOM used the opportunity to brief the participants about capacity building activities scheduled for later in the year and get feedback from the Georgian government interlocutors.
This meeting has been organized by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and IOM as part of a project funded by the International Bureau for Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) of the US Department of State.
