Travel and Breeder Documents Inspection Training Course
On 8-9 October two experts from the Swedish Migration Agency conducted a training on the inspection of travel and breeder documents for officials of the Refugees Issues Division of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The training was mostly of practical nature as it gave the participants an opportunity to inspect actual travel and breeder documents from Egypt, Turkey, Iraq and other countries of origin of asylum seekers. Together with the Swedish trainers the participants discussed and reflected on challenges that they face when inspecting the documents in the context of the asylum claims procedures and interviews with asylum seekers.
The training was organized in the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and implemented under the EU-funded SBMMG project. Moving into 2019, IOM will follow up with additional document examination activities for the benefit of the Georgian government authorities in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Public Services Development Agency.
