Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Georgia, IOM provides a comprehensive response to the humanitarian needs of migrants, internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities.

Lamara Iobidze lives in Kutaisi. She runs a toy store. She has spent nearly two years in Greece and returned to Georgia in February 2021 to open the toy shop with IOM’s return and reintegration assistance.
Jumber Lomtadze lives in Didvela, Gadhdati Municipality. He opened the carpentry workshop under IOM reintegration assistance.
In Imereti, as well as in other regions, IOM provides different types of reintegration assistance – mainly income-generating projects in the field of agriculture, medical assistance and vocational training. This year (October inclusive) IOM has assisted 144 returned migrants living in Imereti district.
IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme ensures the orderly and humane return and reintegration of migrants who are unable or unwilling to remain in the host countries and thus wish to voluntarily return to their countries of origin.
