Celebrating Europe Day with IOM Georgia at Expo Georgia
On May 11, the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia hosted a celebration of Europe Day at the Expo Georgia exhibition center, drawing in thousands of enthusiastic visitors. Among the participants was IOM Georgia, which presented a stand with a special theme “Visa-Free Travel to Europe.”
The IOM’s stand enlightening visitors on the nuances of safe, regular, and legal migration to Europe, with a focus on disseminating critical information regarding visa-free travel regulations, the advantages of secure migration, and the potential risks associated with irregular migration pathways.
The IOM’s interactive stand offered visitors a chance to immerse themselves in engaging activities such as games and quizzes centered around visa-free travel within the EU/Schengen area. Additionally, attendees could experience a Border Crossing Simulation and assemble a wooden puzzle map of Europe, adding an element of fun to the learning process.
The event was officially opened by Georgian government authorities and the EU Ambassador. Throughout the day participants of the event, young and old, enjoyed a variety of activities. The Embassies of the European Union Member States presented their cultures and traditions in “Euro village”, including performances of singing and dancing. Partners of the European Union, including IOM Georgia, showcased the results and benefits for Georgian citizens, which have been created thanks to the EU’s assistance to Georgia.
Europe Day, celebrated globally on May 9, symbolizes unity and peace across the continent, and the festivities at Expo Georgia perfectly encapsulated the spirit of this significant day.
