Informational Session - “One Day in IOM” for US Embassy Interns was Held
On June 20, at the International Organization of Migration (IOM) Tbilisi office, informational session “One Day in IOM” was held for the US Embassy to Georgia interns. Up to 20 interns attended the session that aimed to promote IOM’s work as well as to share information regarding IOM/UN work in Georgia.
During the event, Ms. Sanja Celebic Lukovac, Chief of Mission IOM Georgia, gave an opening speech and provided introduction on IOM mandate globally, as well as IOM Georgia office staff members from various fields/projects talked about the path of IOM in Georgia, from its establishment to our days, the migration management, regular migration, migrants return and reintegration, migrants’ assistance including those victims of trafficking, immigration and border governance issues, etc.
The interns gave thematic questions and received detailed answers from the field professionals. The one-day event showed that knowing more about IOM mandate and work in Georgia generated interest in the attendees, that will help to increase the visibility of IOM at the US Embassy to Georgia, and in any other entities they will join in the future.
