IOM Discusses Achievements and Challenges in the Field of Border Management with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia
On 20 February 2020 the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, the Deputy Minister Vladimer Bortsvadze and the Head of the Director of the Strategic Communications Department, Nino Giorgobiani met with the IOM Georgia Chief of Mission, Sanja Celebic Lukovac, IOM Integrated Border Management Project Coordinator, Jason Clarke and IOM Reporting Officer, Nino Tchkoidze. The Minister stressed the importance of IOM's support provided in the fields of fight against irregular migration and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, implemented by IOM with the financial support of the EU and US Embassy. The Minister also spoke about the challenges in the field of securing borders and combatting smuggling of migrants. Parties also discussed the ongoing projects implemented by the Ministry, with direct support and engagement of IOM.
