IOM Georgia Chief of Mission Meets with the Deputy Mayor of Ozurgeti Municipality
On 14 June IOM Georgia Chief of Mission, Sanja Celebic Lukovac met with the Deputy Mayor of Ozurgeti Municipality, Giorgi Ghurchumelidze to discuss ongoing efforts in support of Georgian returnees, as well as future cooperation opportunities.
On 15 June the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will donate tools and equipment to the iron and joint concrete workshop established by three Georgian returnees, with migration experience in Poland, Ukraine, and Russia, who managed to expend the small iron enterprise and create iron and concrete workshop with IOM’s support.
IOM also established Service Hub in Ozurgeti Municipality, which already provided consultations to over 200 returnees and referred them to skills development and business support programmes, including Agro-credit and Enterprise Georgia, with 6 receiving already the Agro-credits for their business development or expecting final selection from the Enterprise Georgia. The service hub also ensures successful referrals of returnees to much need services.
According to Mr. Ghurchumelidze, the Service Hub as well as iron and concrete workshop established by Georgian returnees is a good example and motivation for other Georgian nationals, thinking about returning home.
