IOM Georgia Highlights the 15th European Anti-Trafficking Day

On 18 October, IOM Georgia marked the 15th European Anti-Trafficking Day by highlighting the exploitation of children in various forms of trafficking. Two videos were broadcast on Georgian TV channels and IOM’s social media outlets to raise awareness of the Georgian population on trafficking in children in forced begging and the way traffickers target social media to lure vulnerable children into conditions of exploitation.

IOM Georgia also cooperated with the Levan Aleksidze Foundation to discuss with university students the situation of trafficking in human beings in Georgia. Specific attention was dedicated to the importance of school education on trafficking in human beings and the key role that school teachers play in raising awareness of youngsters and empowering them with preventative knowledge.

IOM has implemented this activity as part of the project “Sustaining Border Management and Migration Governance in Georgia (SBMMG)”, which is funded by the European Union.
