IOM Georgia Organised the Training on Bilateral Labour Migration Agreements
On 31 May 2022, IOM Georgia organised the training on Bilateral Labour Migration Agreements.
The representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, State Employment Support Agency, Vocational Skills Agency and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement participated in the training.
The training sessions were led by the representative of the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) unit of IOM Regional Office Vienna.
The purpose of the course was to increase the participants’ awareness of inter-state cooperation on labour mobility, to provide practical information on different types of cooperation and agreement modalities, and what is involved in negotiations, implementation and evaluation of such agreements.
Participants discussed the main drivers that incentivize governments to cooperate in the field of labour migration, including, in the Georgian context, as well as key components for effective bilateral labour agreements and reviewed the steps to follow within the negotiations and good practices of monitoring and evaluation, reflecting on the experience that Georgia already gained through bilateral cooperation in this field.
The meeting was organised in the framework of the project – Border and Migration Management Action for Georgia (BMMAG) - funded by the European Union
