IOM Georgia Organized Workshop for Batumi Municipal Services Agency Staff
On 21-22 June ,2023, in Batumi, Adjara, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Georgia organized the workshops for Batumi Municipal Services Agency Service Centres staff.
The workshops aimed to introduce the referral guide for reintegration of the returned migrants. The guide, developed by IOM Georgia, consolidates information about public, as well as non-state services and programmes available in Georgia, in the different directions/fields, including personal documents, property registration, entrepreneurial activities, business support programmes/projects, employment, health care, social protection, reintegration assistance etc.
During the workshop the participants discussed opportunities for future cooperation, particularly in terms of enhancing the capacity of the service centres’ employees. The special focus was on the possibilities of developing information and counselling and referral services for the returnees, to support their sustainable reintegration.
Under the reintegration and community revitalization pilot project, IOM Georgia together with the local authorities, already established Service Hubs in 11 target municipalities in Guria, Imereti, Kakheti and Tbilisi, aiming to provide information, counselling and referral services tailored to the needs of the local population, including but not limited to those with a migration experience or intention.
The workshop was organized in the framework of the project “Enhanced Opportunities for the Returning Migrants in Georgia”, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
