IOM Installs Isolation Spaces at the Border Crossing Points in Kazbegi and Kutaisi
Isolation spaces at border crossing points at Kazbegi and Kutaisi International Airport have been arranged to prevent spread of coronavirus and other contagious diseases. The isolation facilities stand in line with recommendations of WHO and are crucial for controlling contagious diseases at the borders.
This activity is part of a project "Supporting the Government of Georgia in Strengthening Border Management Practices to Mitigate the Impact of the Pandemic on Human Mobility” that is implemented with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).
Within the framework of the project, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) provided the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with protective personal equipment (face shields, masks, bio-overalls, as well as medical gowns, protective glasses, disposable shoe covers, respirators and disposable gloves) in order to minimize risks of spreading diseases and to provide safe environment for health.
Ceremony held at the BCP Kazbegi was attended by the Deputy Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Georgia - Urs Beer, Head of the Integrated Border Management (IBM) Programme - Massimo Ramanzin, Deputy Head of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service - Elguja Berandze and Deputy Head of the International Relations Department - Dachi Kinkladze.
The deputy head of the customs department once again thanked the project for its support and expressed hope that the fruitful, result-oriented cooperation in the direction of ensuring health of the citizens and promoting regular migration will continue actively in the future.
