IOM Organises a Training Cycle on Migration Reporting for Local and Regional Journalists

On July 18-19 the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with "Internews Georgia" organised a training cycle on migration reporting for local and regional journalists.

Training was attended by 25 representatives of local media. Participants were greeted by Ana Kakushadze - National Programme and Media & Communications Officer at IOM Georgia - who conducted opening remarks at the training. Training attendants received comprehensive information on problems during covering news on migrants and ethics and trends of migration coverage from the presenters.

The aim of the activity is to further contribute to improved understanding and awareness on migration issues in Georgia, including the provision of higher quality migration-related information to the public by the media and increasing the interests of journalists and media in migration-related issues.

This activity was implemented under the project “Enhancing Migrants Rights and Good Governance in Armenia and Georgia (EMERGE)", funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
