IOM presented new pilot project “Sustainable Reintegration and Community Revitalization in Communities of Return” - in Guria and Imereti region
On 7-8 April 2021, IOM Georgia presented the new pilot project- “Sustainable Reintegration and Community Revitalization in Communities of Return – in Guria and Imereti regions.
IOM Georgia Chief of Mission - Sanja Celebic Lukovac and the project team met with the Governor and the Deputy Governor of Guria region and the representatives of Municipalities, as well as with the Deputy Governor of Imereti region and the representatives of the Governor’s Administration.
IOM representatives presented the new pilot project which aims to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Georgia to support sustainable reintegration of returning migrants and community revitalization while contributing empowering migrants and communities as development actors. The project envisages the active cooperation with the municipalities and other local development actors to ensure cross-fertilization and synergies, promote a participatory approach in the reintegration of returned migrants and development of the communities of return.
Authorities in both regions expressed interest and willingness to cooperate for the successful implementation of the project. The Parties agreed to extend collaboration and take joint steps forward.
The project is funded by the IOM Development Fund (IDF) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
