IOM Staff Gather to Discuss IOM Georgia Country Strategy
On 14-15 October, IOM staff attended a 2-day workshop. Participants were welcomed by Ms. Sanja Celebic Lukovac, IOM Georgia Chief of Mission. During the training IOM Georgia representatives overviewed IOM’s past activities, discussed the implementation of future projects and various other topics.
Ms. Renate Held, Regional Director, IOM Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, opened the retreat and offered heartfelt thanks to IOM Georgia staff for their dedication, leadership, and ingenuity. Especially during the pandemic which added a challenge in an already difficult environment. Highlighted that for IOM, the priorities remain focused on generating evidence-based solutions that promote state ownership of migration governance and durable, protection-centered options.
Anna Platonova, Head of Office a.i./Senior Economist, Office of the UN Resident Coordinator (RCO) in Georgia, introduced the changing dynamics within the UN system, expressing the shift from individual agency action to working together.
The training was joined by multiple IOM officials online - Ms. Stefanie Allemann, Senior Regional Policy advisor and Ms. Sarah Harris, Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer from the IOM Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia held Q&A session about IOM strategic frameworks and SEEECA regional strategy, while Ms. Miwa Takahashi, Senior Programme Manager from the IOM headquarters and IOM institutional reforms
Ms. Arjeta Rudi, Senior Regional Resources Management Officer from the IOM Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia held a Q&A session about IOM institutional reforms related to resource management within the internal governance framework.
Closing remarks were made by Ms. Sanja Celebic Lukovac, IOM Georgia Chief of Mission who concluded the training and thanked participants for attending the workshop.
