IOM, UNHCR Organize Study Trip to Portugal to Learn About Integration Practices for Future Implementation in Georgia
On 19-23 July 2022 IOM, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in cooperation with UNHCR, organized a study visit to Portugal for the representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoLHSA), Livelihoods Agency, SCMI, MoE and MIA of Georgia. The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with integration policy of the country, to acquire knowledge and experience on operation and structure of one-stop-shop model on integration, also to study more about data collection and sharing methods.
IOM Georgia works closely with the MoLHSA to support the Ministry’s efforts aimed at integration policy development and implementation. In addition to number of workshops focusing on integration best practices and surveys, IOM identified local and international consultants to support the Ministry in drafting of national integration policy document. Georgian counterparts will utilize acquired knowledge and gained experience towards developing and then implementing policy document on foreigners’ integration.
The study visit was implemented under the project “Enhancing Migrants Rights and Good Governance in Armenia and Georgia (EMERGE)", funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
