Minister of Health and Social Defence of Autonomous Republic of Adjara and IOM discuss future cooperation, migration challenges

Minister of Health and Social Defence of Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Nino Nizharadze met with IOM Georgia Chief of Mission Sanja Celebic Lukovac. Joint projects of Ministry of Health and Social Defence of Autonomous Republic of Adjara and IOM during the COVID-19 pandemic, future cooperation and regional migration challenges were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Nizharadze presented insights into the details of the epidemic situation and vaccination process in Adjara and thanked IOM for its efforts in supporting migrants needs and implementation of projects in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

IOM together with NGOs is implementing several projects in Adjara including humanitarian aid program for foreign migrants. With the technical assistance and consultations from IOM, citizens of Adjara Autonomous Republic went to Germany with legal employment programme.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Defence of Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Zurab Tenieshvili, IOM Georgia EMERGE Project Manager – Maja Wiebler and IOM Batumi Field Office Coordinator – Nana Papiashvili also attended the meeting.
