Returnees in Ozurgeti Create Concrete Multi-Profile Small Enterprise

On 15 June the International Organization for Migration (IOM) donated tools and equipment to the iron and joint concrete workshop established by three Georgian returnees, with migration experience in Poland, Ukraine, and Russia, who managed to expend the small iron enterprise and create iron and concrete workshop with IOM’s support.

The small enterprise will offer local population and the municipality new, quality multi-profile iron and concrete products and related services, be it making of and installation of iron-concrete gates and fences, blocks, decorative blocks, paving slabs, and decorative concrete for exterior.  The enterprise envisages hiring two new employees in the first phase of implementation. Increasing production will help develop new jobs and skills of employees.

IOM supported the business idea with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). In addition to many other factors, the proposal was success because applicants possess necessary skills and resources; they already own the space for the workshop, which they are willing to expand as a team, for the benefit of local community and through investment of personal resources.

The business was funded under the project “Sustainable Reintegration and community revitalization pilot initiative in communities of Return” funded by the IOM Development Fund (IDF) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Official opening of the workshop in Ozurgeti was attended by Giorgi Urushadze, State Representative in Guria Region, Avtandil Talakvadze, Mayor of the Ozurgeti Municipality and Sanja Celebic Lukovac, IOM Georgia Chief of Mission.
