Workshop on Amendments to the Labour Migration Legislation
On 9 September 2022, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia and IOM Georgia organized the workshop on planned amendments to the Law of Georgia on Labour Migration.
The representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, social partners, international and non-governmental organizations working in the field of migration and private employment agencies attended the workshop.
The participants were introduced to the findings of the Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) carried out with the initiative of the Ministry and supported by IOM Georgia last year, and the main provisions of the proposed legislative amendments.
Planned legislative changes aim to improve the legal framework of labour migration management. Amendments envisage the establishment of an effective system for regulation and monitoring of activities related to the provision of employment outside Georgia, as well as the measures for promoting and supporting activities of the recruitment agencies by the government.
The meeting was organised in the framework of the project – Border and Migration Management Action for Georgia (BMMAG) - funded by the European Union
